Each week, we ask our panel of leading social small biz thinkers for their thoughts on one of the key social media questions of the day. This week, we ask: How can businesses make best use of Linkedin?
Here are a selection of the best responses. Let us know what you think in the comments and let us know if you’d be interested in joining the panel.
How can businesses make best use of Linkedin?
Barb Iaquinto, Quintesocial Twitter
The standard answer is that LinkedIn is a solid resource for vetting job candidates. In addition, consider creating a group and becoming a content provider for vendors and/or customers to position your company as an expert in your industry. Find solid content via Twitter, blogs, and serve as the aggregator of that content on your LinkedIn group. Then invite your vendors/customers/others to join your group.

Linkedin operates on a request to join/connect with people, therefore it is more controlled and in some ways, exclusive, as if you were joining a private club.
On the other hand, it does allow you to access a much wider network of people, rather than you relying on your own network. Furthermore, there is potentially more direct access to key decision makers as you are able to view more background information, e.g. CV’s; rather than spending time sifting through information on company websites looking for that key contact name.
