Research from Nielsen has revealed that it’s people aged 25 and over and, in particular, 35 and over, who are most likely to be going online via their mobiles.

According to Nielsen, 36% of mobile social network usage is by 35 to 54 year olds. 34% is done by 25 to 34 year olds. However, 18 to 24 year olds only account for 16%.

When it comes to gender, women dominate in mobile social networking. This is largely unsurprising seeing that there are more women using social networks in general.
So what does this all mean for small businesses?
Well, it’s all about targeting your audience in the right way. If the 35 plus age range is important, then you will need to consider the impact of mobile.
